About Act Up

Act Up is a charades party game app for iPhone and Android. One player holds the phone to their forehead, the group acts out the card, and a tilt of the phone scores or passes it. The app has 107 themed decks and 10,100+ cards in 72 languages. On the App Store and Google Play it is listed as “Charades Party Game: Headbands”.

This website, charades.games, lets anyone play charades in the browser for free, with no sign-up, and explains the rules, ideas and tips for playing at home, at school, at parties and online.

Who makes it

Act Up and charades.games are made by Nuralingua Studios Ltd, a private limited company registered in England and Wales (company number 16785135, founded October 2025).

How the decks are made

• Every language has its own word lists, with local films, songs, food, holidays and famous people, not a word-for-word copy of the English decks.
• Decks are sorted from easy to hard so children and first-time players can join in.
• Everything is family friendly: an automatic check blocks alcohol, drugs, adult and offensive terms, and the app is rated 4+.
• Decks we can't fill with enough good cards in a language are left out of that language rather than padded.

How the guides are written

The guides on this site are drafted with the help of AI (Claude, by Anthropic). Each language then gets its own review pass that checks fluency, rule accuracy and local fit. Examples come from our own decks. We never invent facts, statistics, ratings or reviews. If you find a mistake, please tell us and we will fix it.

Free and paid

The browser game on this site is free. The app is free to download, and four decks are free forever. An Act Up Pro subscription unlocks the other decks.
